The birch stock shows some use over 68 years, but no abuse, while the metal (with the exception of the bare spot where the sight was removed) is in quite decent condition with no rust or pitting. There were 3 versions of the L61R and L579 models, the sporter, a deluxe model and a full stock Mannlicher version. An excellent original rifle will usually bring north of 2K. Sako Riihimaki Deluxe L46 Rem Blue 22' BEAUTIFUL BOLT ACTION RIFLE GG. The rear sling swivel is the "clevis" style with two mounting screws and base inletted into the wood. The only non-original feature is that the barrel-mounted rear sight has been removed to make more room for the Weaver K-6 which is mounted on it. It exhibits the very earliest style of left hand safety with the serrated upturned tip (later LH safeties had the tip turned down in order to provide additional scope clearance.) The stock features the "pancake" cheekpiece and has the checkering on the grip only (another early feature), and the barrel band clamps the fore end to the barrel. This rifle was made in 1949 and was originally shipped to a retailer in Gothenburg, Sweden, according to the Sako factory records, which will be made available to the buyer.
